Balconies and loggias

In buildings balconies and loggias not only expand living space, but usually also serve as architectural elements of the building. Loggia – is room built into the facade of the building, which is open from the facade, and is bounded by walls from three sides. Balcony in turn – is an open, fenced ledge build out outside the plane of the outer wall of the building at floor decks. Balconies were mostly built up to the sixties of last century, and then instead of them began building loggias.

Functions of loggias and balconies can be extended if they are glazed. However, for maximum effect, the glazing should be qualitative, and it is recommended that for the whole house, it was carried out by one project. Then there won’t be so often observed situation, when on the same floor or in an apartment loggias or balconies are glassed in wooden frame, on the other – in metal, but on the other – not glazed at all. Such glazing brings chaos to the architecture of the building, but qualitative glazing of balconies and loggias of the same type, by contrast, makes the architecture of the building more expressive.

The opinion of the architects on this issue is clear: definitely not for the cultivation of cucumbers or storage of unnecessary things. The main function of balconies and loggias – to enable citizens enjoy the fresh air without leaving the house, it is also a cozy room, where, regardless of weather conditions one can have a good time. It’s always nice to have a cup of aromatic coffee or tea on a comfortably-furnished balcony. Take care of or enjoy the plants, read a good book or magazine … Another advantage – the house will be protected from street noise.
